CALCUTTA

In a Calcutta auction people bid, auction style, on the player who they think will win the tournament. All the money raised through the auction goes into its own pot, completely separate from the game pot.

In our Calcutta, EVERY player is auctioned off.  You do not have to be a player to participate in bidding.  You are not required to buy anyone.   You may not bid on yourself.  People often pool their money to buy players together.  This is perfectly acceptable; however, one person from that group is responsible to pay all the money due, and that person’s name will be on the “owners list.”

Once the Calcutta is over, please give the Poker Hands about 30 minutes to enter all the data in the spreadsheet before you try to pay your fees.  If you go out of a hand, that’s a good time to make that payment.

The payout schedule is as follows:

1st place                 45%
2nd place                25%
3rd place                 15%
4th place                 10%
First Out                  5%*

*You must have at least two re-buys to qualify as First Out.

Last, but not least, you are allowed to make trades, exchanges, etc. throughout the game; however, on the official list, it remains the same—you just have a side agreement.
